Embodiments of the present invention relate generally to determining the presence of a device proximate an apparatus with a touch screen display for executing operations, such as allowing interaction between the device and the apparatus via the display. In particular, embodiments of the present inven tion relate to an apparatus and method for detecting the device based on an association between a signal received from the device and a touch input received at the display, rather than through computer vision techniques.
