Description
The effects of carbamyl choline and epinephrine on membrane rigidity of human erythrocytes have been studied using spin-labeled fatty acids. Treatment of the cells with neurotransmitters increases the cation permeability of the membrane, resulting in an increase in rigidity which apparently involves fibrous proteins in the cell.
