Description
An investigation into the perception of object properties from acoustics is described. Specifically, recordings of plates of varying sizes and shapes being struck were made both in air and underwater. These signals then formed the basis of a psychophysical experiment investigating the perception of size, shape and material. The results of this experiment are compared to previous literature examining perception of object properties from acoustics and a model of material perception is constructed.
